With two 6-packs of Tsingtao 0.0 under my belt, it is time to bring you the Tsingtao Zero review with all you need to know before picking up a pack or two yourself. So grab that floppy beach hat and let’s get you transported back to poolside in Bali this classic holiday beer.
The Tsingtao 0.0 scores a 7.5/10 on the back of its lightly flavoured, refreshingly crisp & light malty base. The Tsingtao Zero also provides a well-weighted body & viscous mouthfeel courtesy of a traditional level of sweetness that transitions to a balancing bitterness to finish that lingers between mouthfuls.

What does Tsingtao 0.0 Taste Like?
The Tsingtao 0.0 is going to transport your right back to those hot days pool-side in Bali without a care in the world. So, what does that taste like? Let’s take a look down below.
The taste profile of the Tsingtao 0.0 is for all intents and purposes modelled on the traditional Tsingtao lager profile. It’s round and light profile and body will be immediately familiar to Tsingtao drinkers and the weight of the body will impress you in the process!.
In each glass you are going to find a light flavour profile that is a simple and refreshingly crisp lager profile and made up of a:
- light round malty base
- hoppy body that carries with it round profiled sweetness (you might pick up a summer fruit note in it too)
- bitterness that lingers between mouthfuls and helps offset the sweetness
- good level of vibrant carbonation and well-weighted / body resulting in a good mouthfeel.
A word of warning, drop this one into a glass to get the most out of it, otherwise, you’re going to really find it lacks the flavour depth. However, once poured you’ll find a pale golden brew with slow-motion style bubbles and a silky foamy head.
What I Like | Things to Consider |
The way the light traditional lager styled Tsingtao profile is well replicated. | If you find traditional Tsingtao lacking in flavour, you’re likely going to find the Tsingtao Zero is also lacking. Find some other alternatives here. |
The way the bitterness builds and develops as you progress through the glass is a nice touch. | Two of the 12 cans I opened had opening issues, 1 the ring pull failed and the other the mouth didn’t properly open. |
Who is Tingtao Zero Lager For?
With the Tsigntao Zero compared to 3 of the main alternatives, you’ve probably got a good gauge on who the Tsingtao 0.0 is for, but let’s run through who would enjoy one of the first alcohol-free beers to land in 2022.
So if you’re looking for a light, clean and fresh lager profile or maybe you’re looking to enjoy the traditional flavours of Tsingtao without the alcohol you’re going to enjoy the alcohol-free Tsingtao Zero.
Tsingtao 0.0 Stockists.
The Tsingtao 0.0 distribution is continuing to grow and I have only been able to track this down at my local Woolworths. Although after reviewing their online stores it is not currently listed. I’m sure given the distribution and power of Tsingtao, this won’t be for long. So stay tuned and
Let me know down below if you manage to track down a place to buy it and I’ll add it to the list!

When To Drink Tsingtao 0.0
The Tsingtao alcohol-free beer is perfect for those hot days and days by the pool when you’re looking for that afternoon beer in the sun. This is clearly the flavour profile so many Tsingtao beer drinkers have been conditioned, however, I’ll give you the scenarios I have found this to do amazingly as we as a few I think it would really excel in:
- Taco Tuesdays are a win for this beer, it is light and fresh enough to compliment the bright flavours while having enough bitterness to cut through the heat;
- Spicy stir-fries are a weekly tradition for me and I gave this a go with a straight tofu and veg option as well as one with seafood and tofu as well – fabulous;
- Bao Buns with spicy chicken and tofu (see the photo at the bottom!); and
- I would see this doing well with a rockling or similar white fish served with a light grain like quinoa and light dressing. I’ll give it a go and keep you posted!
Now that I’ve worked through writing that out I’m entirely hungry, but hopefully, it gives you an idea of how this beer can fit into your day-to-day.
Does Non-Alcoholic Lager Need A Glass?
If you’ve made it this far, you’re definitely going to need a 6 pack of the Tsingtao alcohol free option in your life. In order to make sure you get the most out of it, I’d implore you to drop it into a glass. As it does much better when allowed to open up and bring all the flavours to life.
Think about it objectively, imagine trying to get all that flavour out of a tiny mouthpiece in a can compared to the crafted glass opening that is designed to give you the most out of your beer, it is a no brainer!
If you are looking for some glassware to help take your Tsingtao Zero and all of your other non-alcoholic beer to eleven, I am a big advocate for the Spiegelau Craft Tasting Kit. If you have read my content or watched any of it over on YouTube you’ll know that I have spent my own cash on it and love my set.
It does the job for me and is well priced giving you high-quality glassware options that have washed-and-worn well (…it has even made it through some lazy ‘I’ll just put it in the dishwasher once’) through my Tipple Zero journey.

The Round-Up: Final Thoughts
While this is a new entrant in the non-alcoholic beer market at the time of writing this in 2022, the Tsingtao 0.0 is a great take on an alcohol-free lager that seeks to replicate its original and alcoholic older sibling.
I find it is getting harder and harder to say ‘I’m going to add this to my regular rotation’ due to the vast number of good non-alcoholic beer alternatives in the market, however, the Tsingtao will definitely be one I’ll reach for during the summer months.
I’ll keep you posted on where and how this becomes available globally and add links as we go. In the interim, here is to hoping we’re all able to track it down!
