Who are Carlton & United Breweries?
Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) are the creators of Carlton Draught and one of Australia’s most widely consumed beers. They are also a front runner for the brewery with the best TV ads in the world.
CUB is a true brewing powerhouse and 2018 saw them launch their first non-alcoholic beer Carlton Zero. Carlton & United Breweries tell us Carlton Zero is for beer lovers who:

Do CUB make a zero alcohol beer?
CUB seem to have done something right, as:
- August 2019 saw them listed in the BOSS magazine (Australian Financial Review) as one of the most innovative manufacturing and consumer companies; and
- Carlton Zero 0.0% sold more than 3.2 million litres in Australia in its first year since it hit the market.
Speaking on being listed in the AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies List, CUB insights and innovation director Adam Murphy said “Judges recognised that Carlton Zero has given beer lovers what they’ve wanted for ages: a non-alcoholic beer that actually tastes like beer”
Innovation awards and over 3 million litres sold in its first twelve months highlight Carlton Zero was developed by CUB to capture and provide an option to Australian’s who have seen their drinking tastes and habits change over recent times.
In 2018 CUB say low and mid-strength beer makeup 20% of CUB sales as consumers adjust their alcohol intake and look to moderate or scale back their alcohol consumption.
With changing consumer tastes in mind CUB Business Unit President, Peter Filipovic says CUB “are re-writing the rules to give people a non-alcoholic beer that actually tastes like beer” and is “crafted with the same quality ingredients as our other iconic beers to give it a great-tasting flavour”.
